Privacy Policy
Last updated: 3 June 2026
Legacy of Eternity (“Legacy of Eternity”, “we”, “us”) is an independent fantasy MMO and the website at legacyofeternity.com. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you create an account or contact us, why we collect it, and the choices you have. We collect as little as we need to run the game and keep your account secure.
Information we collect
- Account details — your email address, the display name you choose, and a password. We store only a salted bcrypt hash of your password; we never keep the password itself.
- Security & session data — your IP address, browser type (user agent), and the times of your sign-ins, used to operate your session and protect your account.
- Game data — the accounts, characters, clans, and progress tied to your login. Some of this (such as character and clan names on public leaderboards) is visible to other players.
- Messages — anything you send us through the contact form, including your name, email address, and the message itself.
How we use your information
- create and maintain your account and let you sign in;
- run the game world, your characters, and the public rankings;
- keep accounts secure and detect or prevent abuse, cheating, and fraud;
- respond to your enquiries and provide support;
- send essential service email, such as email verification and password resets.
Legal bases
Where the GDPR or similar laws apply, we rely on the performance of our agreement with you (to provide the game and your account), our legitimate interests (to keep the service secure and prevent abuse), and your consent where we specifically ask for it. You can withdraw consent at any time.
Cookies and local storage
We do not use tracking or advertising cookies. To keep you signed in, the site stores authentication tokens in your browser's local storage. Full details are in our Cookies Policy.
Sharing and service providers
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with providers that help us run the service:
- Mailjet — delivers our account and contact emails;
- Google Fonts — serves the site's typefaces; loading them sends your IP address to Google;
- our hosting provider — operates the servers that run the game and website.
We may also disclose information where required by law, or to protect our rights, our users, or the security of the service.
How long we keep it
We keep account information for as long as your account exists. Contact-form messages are kept only as long as needed to handle your request. When you ask us to delete your account, we remove or anonymise your personal data, except where we must keep some of it to meet legal obligations or resolve disputes.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these, email us at contact@legacyofeternity.com. You may also have the right to complain to your local data-protection authority.
Children
Legacy of Eternity is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
We protect passwords with industry-standard bcrypt hashing and serve the site over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
International transfers
Our providers may process data in countries other than your own. Where that happens, we rely on the appropriate safeguards those providers offer.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the game evolves. We will change the “last updated” date above and, for significant changes, give notice through the site or by email.
